Our client is indigenous to Donegal, and a family owned business, who have been in operation for over 40 years. They are an integral part of the local community and one of the main employers in the local area. They have been making and continue to make original produce since the founding of the Company.
They are a very customer and product focused business with a flat management structure and a Hands-On approach from MD to shop floor. As a result, all members of the team have a deep understanding of the business and capabilities. This allows a great deal of flexibility and fast decision making which has led to their Nothing is impossible attitude.
They currently have a vacancy for a Field Sales Manager to join their innovative team.
Duties & responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following;
Achieve market share growth for the business in the direct sales sector.
Manage and motivate sales employees assembling a direct sales team focused on meeting customer requirements, building brand loyalty and achieving agreed targets in line with the Organisation’s vision and values.
Develop and present well researched plans and strategies, supported by the sales and marketing teams, to expand company customer base, develop product range and move into new direct sales territories within the island of Ireland.
Manage Key Accounts; developing relationships, adding value and building loyalty.
Mentor the sales team in focusing on customer needs and delivering these.
Monitor sales against targets at account, product and territory level taking corrective action to address shortfalls.
Proactively plan to grow territory sales in terms of people customers and product range.
Implement agreed company strategy to achieve growth.
Agree a plan for each territory / Sales Representative area and facilitate successful implementation of this plan.
Employee management and development
Set ambitious and realistic KPIs for your direct reports focusing on profitability, maximising sales and minimising returns / waste.
Develop sales representatives, van sales crew and third party agents ensuring everyone is well trained and fully equipped to succeed, agree career development plans with key individuals and support each individual in achieving their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) .
Conduct sales employee individual reviews and assessments to increase motivation, improve communication and build a clear understanding of the market.
Identify sales employees’ training and development needs through recognising gaps and providing insight into how the Sales Team can be further supported and developed through training.
Recruit employees using the probation period to assess their fitness for the role.
Manage sales operation in terms of Logistics, Depot Management, Health and Safety and the promotion of safe working practices such as ensuring compliance with the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 with support from the businesses Dispatch, Health and Safety, Human Resources & Quality functions.
Effective Sales Forecasting with immediate communication of changes in sales team requirements done in a timely manner to key personnel is always critical.
Liaise with the commercial and marketing teams to provide timely, accurate feedback on competitor and customer activity.
Maintains accurate records of agreed pricing strategies and activity reports submitted by Sales Reps.
Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
Minimum 3 years in food / FMCG environment where you have had responsibility including the following-
Successful FMCG Sales Management record.
Possess well developed admin. & organisational skills with an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
You also will have worked successfully in a team environment and led by example.
You will be a highly motivated multi tasker with a passion for the food industry.
You will have excellent oral and written English with very strong communication and presentation skills.
You will be a Self-Starter with a Can-Do attitude and willingness to learn
You will have a high level of proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
You will be a proven motivator
Business or Marketing degree or equivalent.
Experience in the design establishment & development of incentive lead culture within direct sales team.
