Payroll Clerk / Accounts Assistant, Job Ref. JO2967

Salary £18,000 – £20,000 pro-rata

Our client was initially established to stimulate social and economic regeneration in the Mid Ulster area by providing enterprise units, business support services and employability initiatives from its base in Draperstown and is now regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s leading social enterprises. They currently provide support services for business and are involved through various subsidiary companies.

Job Purpose:
To provide a high level of administration support to the accounts team and to process payroll for five companies.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Process and oversee payroll for five companies within the group;
Payment of PAYE returns, pension submissions and CIS submissions;
Sales & Purchase ledger support;
Preparation of bank reconciliations;
Processing purchase orders;
Preparation of VAT returns;
Provide the property manager with admin support;
Adhere to quality processes and procedures and maintain quality records;
Ensure the accuracy and completion of all work, reports etc. in a timely manner;
Participate in team meetings;
Work in a confidential and professional manner at all times;
Be quality and target driven, ensuring all department and organisational targets, deadlines and standards are achieved and consistently achieve set individual objectives, targets and KPI’s;
Develop and sustain effective working relationships within the Accounts Team, those within the relevant companies and other stakeholders;
Undertake CPD activities which enhance individual and organisational performance, maintaining/developing relevant skills to the highest professional standards;
Adhere to and uphold Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and values at all times including Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Data Protection, Lone Working, Confidentiality etc;
Undertake regular, formal reviews with the line manager, reflecting on targets, performance and practice;
Any other related/reasonable duties as required by management and/or the business objectives.

Essential Criteria:
Minimum of 5 GCSE / O Levels or equivalent (Grades A-C or above inclusive of English Language and Mathematics);
Significant experiences in all aspects of the payroll function over a reasonable period of time;
Experience of providing admin/accounts support in a busy accounts department and/or to a senior accounts team over a reasonable period of time;
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the workings of a busy administration environment and a busy payroll profile;
Ability to maintain aspects of the sales & purchase ledgers and to carry out bank reconciliations;
Proficiency in Microsoft office including word and excel;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – oral and written, an excellent telephone manner is particularly important;
Organised, systematic and flexible with good time management skills;
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in line with business needs;
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes or ability to demonstrate alternative method of being able to fulfil any travel related duties of the role;

Desirable Criteria:
A relevant qualification in accountancy / finance;
Knowledge of Pegasus / Opera II accounts software;
Maintaining computerised accounts and budgetary records;
