Our client specialises in the manufacture of savoury and sweet pastry products using cutting edge technology and production processes and due to ongoing growth, they have a requirement for  new staff in their production facility in Northwest Tyrone.

Role profile:
The Process Engineer provides technical support, monitor, optimize, and ensure compliance for existing processes in the manufacturing facility.  Evaluate new process technology to determine feasibility for pilot and full scale manufacturing.  Lead and manage all aspects of new process introduction into the manufacturing facility.  Determine necessary equipment modifications to support new processes and/or to improve current processes.

Key duties will include but may not be limited to:
Champion machine and production efficiencies regarding output, defects, changeovers, versatility and variances.
Maintain current operating instructions for the plant and ensure that they are kept up-to-date and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Gather relative information on production processes to identify standards and areas of improvement.
Provide technical support, including process and equipment troubleshooting,

e-bottlenecking, process optimization, and evaluation of raw materials and potential new raw material suppliers.
Champion lean manufacturing techniques in relation to new and existing production processes.
Evaluate and approve proposed equipment and process technology changes and assess impact to affected processes.
Champion yield and giveaway projects.
Act as Project Leader for new processes (This requires close coordination with all departments at the facility and involves every aspect of the project from raw material procurement, batch sizing/scaling, hazard review, writing operating instructions, etc., all the way through to packaging and shipment of material).
Establish emergency shutdown procedures and safe operating limits for the process. Work with the QC department to establish post-cleaning procedures.
Determine critical parameters for effective and safe scale-up from trial to commercial production.
Set production scales to meet customer needs.
Manage electronic system for changes to chemicals, process technology/new processes, and equipment.
Participate in process safety and quality incident investigations. Provide input/feedback for process and quality deviations.
Work closely with Production Engineering and Maintenance to identify cost savings and labour saving projects.
Must be available 24/7 for start-up coverage, processing questions, and troubleshooting. 

Criteria:
An ideal candidate will ideally have a suitable qualification in in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline coupled with demonstrable previous relevant experience within a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment with demonstrable and transferable skills.
Experience or exposure to packaging technologies would be beneficial.
